A slip-up in standard operating proceduresBy LOUIS HAU, Times Staff Writer© St. Petersburg Times published April 28, 2003 Tampa International Airport is the gateway to what local business leaders like to tout as a growing technology hub. So it would seem to make sense that visitors arriving at Airside F, the terminal serving US Airways and American Airlines, would walk past an illuminated ad for the Industry Standard, the weekly magazine on the New Economy. Just one problem: The Standard went belly up and ceased publication in August 2001. So what was the ad still doing there a week ago? An unfortunate oversight, says Vanessa Lipari, account manager for JCDecaux, the marketing company in charge of selling ad space at TIA. The company hasn't been able to sell the space since the Standard last bought an ad there, Lipari explained. But in keeping with JCDecaux's usual practice, she says, the ad should have been replaced in the interim with a public service announcement for a nonprofit organization. She said they'd get right on it. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
