TORONTO - Mike MacDougal and the Royals aren't invincible.

The Blue Jays overcame a seven-run deficit, scoring six in the ninth inning to beat Kansas City 10-9 Sunday as MacDougal blew a save chance for the first time this season.

Toronto trailed 8-1 before scoring one in the seventh and two in the eighth. Mike Bordick's single tied it, and the winning run scored on an error by shortstop Angel Berroa.

"It was a tough loss," MacDougal said. "I don't know what to say. It was a bad inning."

Shannon Stewart's run-scoring double in the seventh pulled Toronto within 8-2, and Josh Phelps' run-scoring double and pinch-hitter Greg Myers' run-scoring single made it 8-4 in the eighth.

Kansas City, which dropped to 17-5, boosted its lead to 9-4 in the ninth on a run-scoring single by Desi Relaford.

Toronto opened the bottom half with singles by Stewart and Frank Catalanotto off Ryan Buckvich and a walk by Vernon Wells that loaded the bases.

Carlos Delgado's run-scoring grounder and Phelps' two-run double made it 9-7.

MacDougal, who had been 9-for-9 in save chances, allowed a double to Eric Hinske, hit Tom Wilson with a pitch and gave up a run-scoring grounder to Dave Berg that pulled the Blue Jays within a run.

Bordick followed with a single that tied the score, and Stewart hit a grounder to Berroa, whose throw to second base sailed past Relaford, allowing Berg to score.

WHITE SOX 3, TWINS 1: Esteban Loaiza, Chicago's surprising ace, won his fifth straight start for the host White Sox.

The right-hander, a nonroster invitee to spring training, allowed a run and six hits in seven innings as Chicago took two of three in the emotional first series between the Central rivals. Chicago manager Jerry Manuel was ejected in the first for arguing a call at first base.

RED SOX 6, ANGELS 4 (14): Pinch-hitter David Ortiz and Jason Varitek opened the 14th with home runs on consecutive pitches to lift visiting Boston.

Pedro Martinez struck out 10 in seven innings and left leading 4-2, but the Red Sox bullpen cost him a win for the second time. Anaheim tied it at 4 in the ninth against Chad Fox on a one-out single by Bengie Molina.

RANGERS 10, YANKEES 7: Alex Rodriguez went 5-for-5 and drove in six as host Texas gave manager Buck Showalter his first win against his former team. Rodriguez hit a two-run double that tied it at 4 in the fourth. His three-run double into the right-centerfield gap capped a five-run fifth.

A'S 4, INDIANS 3: Terrence Long hit a winning double with two outs in the ninth to give host Oakland a three-game sweep. The A's won their fourth straight overall and beat Cleveland for the eighth consecutive time.

MARINERS 4, TIGERS 3: Freddy Garcia won for the first time since April 6 as Seattle dropped Detroit to 3-20, extending the worst start in team history.
