HUDSON - Sheriff's investigators have released a photograph of the man who robbed the AmSouth Bank on U.S. 19 on Monday afternoon.

Detectives continue searching for the man, and do not yet know his name, said sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll.

The man walked into the bank at 14212 U.S. 19 about 1:30 p.m. Monday and presented a deposit slip with a message demanding money, detectives said. The teller complied, and the robber escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, detectives said.

Witnesses described the robber as a 5-foot-8, 180-pound white man, between 30 and 40 years old, with a tanned complexion and a cracked front tooth.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Pete Weekes toll-free at 1-800-854-2862.

Man dies after being found at bottom of pool

NEW PORT RICHEY - Paul Johnson was an avid swimmer.

Wearing blue swim trunks, Johnson, 81, waded into the water at Place in the Sun Community Center in New Port Richey on Monday afternoon. A woman in the pool watched as he began swimming.

Minutes later, the woman climbed out of the pool and noticed that Johnson was lying on the bottom. She and another man lifted Johnson from the pool. Paramedics arrived and began CPR.

Paramedics took Johnson to Community Hospital, where medical staff continued trying to bring him back to life.

They could not. Johnson was pronounced dead at 2:28 p.m., according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies notified Johnson's daughter, who told them that Johnson, of Richmere Drive in New Port Richey, had a stroke in November. The Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation, and on Tuesday did not release the exact cause of Johnson's death.
