Upcoming events for art lovers

Plein Air Invitational 2003 - May 8. Opening benefit for First Night St. Petersburg, with silent auction of landscapes by local artists and refreshments by Bonefish Grill at Sunken Gardens. "Sex, Lies and Art Magazines" - May 10. Richard Vine, managing editor of Art in America, will discuss contemporary art, especially the New York art scene, at a luncheon sponsored by the Arts Center at the St. Petersburg Times auditorium. $25. (727) 822-7872.

ArtWorks - May 12. A workshop sponsored by the Tampa Bay Business Committee for the Arts to help develop partnerships between businesses and the arts features several noted business and art consultants. 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Raymond James Financial in the Carillon complex. $45.
