Country singer Lee Greenwood (God Bless the USA), above, is throwing a party in Vinoy Park Saturday, celebrating "Family and Friends Day." It is billed as the first annual event to raise money for Second Chance Life Skills, a St. Petersburg nonprofit that provides training for disadvantaged youths and young adults.

The park will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. with carnival rides, food vendors, kids' entertainment and musical acts.

The music includes jazz by Belinda Womack and Fred Johnson, rock with Wild Cherry, soul by the On Que Players and reggae by Yard Syndicate. Greenwood performs at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $10 (plus service charge) in advance through Ticketmaster (813) 287-8844 or (727) 898-2100 or $17 at the gate. Children 12 and younger are $5. Food and rides cost extra.

Vinoy Park is on the waterfront at Fifth Avenue NE and Bayshore Drive in downtown St. Petersburg.
