ALAMEDA, Calif. - Mo Collins has agreed to a multiyear deal to stay with the Raiders.
The starting right guard for the reigning AFC champions flew from his hometown of Charlotte, N.C., to Oakland on Wednesday to sign, his agent, Brantley Evans said Thursday. Terms of the contract weren't given.
The Raiders drafted the 6-foot-4, 325-pound former Gator in the first round in 1998.
"It happened quickly," Evans said of contract negotiations. "He's been working out in Charlotte. He's looking forward to getting back to work."
Collins had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee before last season, but returned to contribute to the league's top offense and offer protection to quarterback and league MVP Rich Gannon. The lineman had a stress fracture in his leg in 2001 and missed most of the season.
Summerall leaving Fox
NEW YORK - Pat Summerall is leaving Fox Sports after nine seasons.
Summerall, who turns 73 Saturday, decided to stop working for the network when he realized he would spend most of the season away from his home in Texas.
"It was a difficult decision to make, but it's the right time for me," Summerall said.
His agent, Sandy Montag, said Summerall will talk to the Cowboys about the possibility of doing local broadcasts.
Summerall began his announcing career in 1961 after 10 years as a player. He and analyst Brian Baldinger called 17 games - including 10 with the Cowboys - for Fox last season, his first after longtime announcing partner John Madden left for ABC.
AHMAN GREEN WILL GRADUATE: Pro Bowl running back Ahman Green of the Packers will fulfill a promise he made to his parents and himself when he receives his diploma from the University of Nebraska on Saturday.
Green was 73 credits shy of his geography degree when he turned pro in 1998 after his junior season with the Cornhuskers. He took correspondence courses during his two seasons in Seattle and attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in the offseason after he was traded to the Packers in 2000. He finished his coursework last summer in Lincoln, Neb.
BUCS: The team announced its season-ticket waiting list reached 80,000. Also, this year's annual free FanFest will be June 14.
49ERS: Tim Rattay, the backup quarterback for the past two seasons, signed a one-year contract. Terms weren't given.
TEXANS: Free safety Kevin Williams was released. He played in 13 games as a backup last season and had 22 tackles. Offensive tackle Tarlos Thomas also was released.
