Cowboy's death still a mystery

FORT WORTH, Texas - An autopsy Monday did not determine the cause of death of Cowboys running back Ennis Haywood. Results of toxicology and tissue tests are expected in 6-8 weeks.

Haywood, 23, died Sunday after he began vomiting in his sleep Saturday. He participated in a minicamp May 2-4.

BUCS: Linebacker Jack Golden signed a one-year deal. He played in 13 regular-season and three playoff games, making 13 special-teams tackles.

EAGLES: Punter Kyle Richardson signed a one-year deal.

JAGUARS: Tight end Kyle Brady, linebacker Keith Mitchell and defensive tackles Marcus Stroud and Larry Smith missed the first day of a voluntary passing camp.

RAMS: A jury ruled in favor of running back Marshall Faulk in a civil case accusing him of domestic abuse. The Clayton, Mo., jury found Helen Dunne abused the legal process and awarded Faulk $125. He sought $1 in symbolic damages.

TENNIS: Martinez upsets Dokic

Conchita Martinez upset ninth-seeded Jelena Dokic 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 at the Italian Open in Rome. Top-seeded Serena Williams had a first-round bye and plays today.

HAMBERG MASTERS: Gustavo Kuerten beat Juan Ignacio Chela 6-2, 6-4 to reach the second round in Germany. No. 7 Paradorn Srichaphan and No. 16 James Blake of Tampa lost.

FOREST HILLS CLASSIC: Tampa's Thomas Blake, James' brother, spoiled the debut of James Wan, Michael Chang's cousin, 6-2, 6-2 in New York.

COLLEGES: Fired Tide coach appeals

Mike Price, fired as Alabama's football coach after a trip to a topless bar, is appealing his termination. The university's procedures include mediation or a hearing panel if the initial appeal is rejected. Price's sons, assistant coaches Aaron and Eric, were reassigned within the athletic department.

TENNIS: The Florida women face Arizona State in the NCAA round of 16 at 11 a.m. Thursday in Gainesville. Schedule, 5C

BASKETBALL: UNLV campus police are investigating if students, including players, used a university phone card without permission, running up thousands of dollars in bills. ... Fresno State revised coach Ray Lopes' five-year deal amid speculation he would interview at Iowa State.

BOXING: Joe Frazier is appealing a ruling that he cannot sue the Oneida Indian Nation over the use of his photograph in promoting a fight between his daughter, Jacqui Frazier-Lyde, and Laila Ali, the daughter of Muhammad Ali.

SOCCER: Arnie Mausser is among 16 to be inducted into the Hall of Fame Oct. 12 in Oneonta, N.Y. He was an All-Star goalie in 1976 with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, one of eight NASL teams for which he played.

WINTER SPORTS: Cross-country skiers Kaisa Varis, Achim Walner and Marc Mayer were banned for two years. Varis tested positive for EPO. Blood-transfusion equipment was found at the quarters of Walner and Mayer at the 2002 Games.
