It's a Latin term used in stage directions meaning "all exit." And that's what is happening at University of South Florida's School of Art and Art History, where eight longtime professors, most of whom helped form the fledging department several decades ago, are retiring.
(Not to worry; the school is in the process of hiring replacements.)
USF is sending them out in a big way with performances and testimonials at 7 p.m. May 23 at the theater on the Tampa campus. An exhibition of their work opens the next day at the USF Contemporary Art Museum.
Everyone is invited to celebrate the careers and contributions of Alan Eaker, Diane Elmeer, Chuck Fager, Bob Gelinas, Jeffry Kronsnoble, Mernet Larsen, Bruce Marsh and Theo Wujcik, who have taught several generations of students and supplied collectors with some very fine art.
Reservations for the party are required; tickets are $10. (813) 974-2323.
