Published May 15, 2003

Local jazz musician Alan Darcy will perform and release his third full-length album, Fearless, tonight at the Tampa Theatre. The release party will also feature a Tampa Theatre open house, reception and tour, as well as catering by Mise en Place.

Darcy, a native New Yorker, received a degree in fine art from Florida State University after living and studying music in Europe. Fearless, an 11-song CD, features a mix of original jazz and pop compositions and Darcy's rendition of music by Sting, Van Morrison, Grover Washington Jr. and others.

"I'm so very passionate about my music, and the release of this project is a definite reflection of that," Darcy said.

The saxophonist has been performing at live venues and on television and radio for more than a decade. Darcy also teaches at art workshops through the Hillsborough County Artists in Schools program.

Alan Darcy's CD release party is at 6:30 p.m. today at Tampa Theatre, 711 N Franklin St. $10. (813) 287-8844.
