Here's a look at new businesses in the area:

GOODIES GALORE: Everything is hand made from scratch, you'll never find the same thing twice at Kookies, Kakes N' Baskets. It opened Saturday at 523 Wilbur St. in Brandon. Baskets are wrapped in tulle and the bath salts and oils are homemade. The shop also carries a unique item called Manly Munchie Buckets, steel buckets filled with manly munchies. Basket and cookie prices start at $6.95. Cake prices range between $9.95 and $29.95. 684-4227.

TEA TIME: Tea is their specialty, raspberry is a favorite. La Petite Cafe at 109 Mason Street in Brandon opened in February. Soups, salads, sandwiches and homemade desserts are included in the lunch menu. Prices range from $6 to $8. Tea by the pot ranges from $1.89 to $3.29. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, lunch is served from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Weekends are reserved for private parties. Catering, delivery and take-out are available. 653-1950. SAYING GOODBYE: Rheumatologist Carlos Ganuza will close his office at 4051 Upper Creek Drive, Suite 101, in Sun City Center on May 30. Hours until then are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
