Pets' biggest needs: homes

Re: Buddy's best friend, by far, May 11

Editor: If you find an abandoned, emaciated and scared animal in this county, don't try to nurse it back to health unless you can keep it. Like the story of Buddy, I thought I was being a good Samaritan when I found a 6- to 8-month-old Dalmatian pup. I thought I would be able to call a shelter and place him there after he was well. I even offered to foster him, have him neutered and to get him all his shots.

The SPCA told me they were full, and I understand that. But when I asked them to put me on a waiting list, they informed me they do not do that and suggested I keep calling each week. The Animal Rescue of West Pasco said they only take animals in New Port Richey placed with them through the Police Department.

I tried local Dalmatian Rescue but was told that they have too many Dalmatians already. Animal Control will take him but will probably have to put him down. I got so much more sympathy and empathy from shelters outside of Pasco County. My heartfelt thank you goes out to them.

My heart is broken knowing I nursed him back to health for nothing. To the heartless person who abandoned him: Shame on you, for two hearts are broken.

Richey Suncoast Theater's "Annie' is best of shows

Editor: The Richey Suncoast Theater's Annie, which runs through June 1, is the best show we've ever seen in 21 years of Florida residency. Charles Skelton deserves a director of the year award. Casey Maxwell as Annie has a golden voice and never once stepped out of character on opening night. She is a total pro. The orphans were so beautiful I wanted to pick up each one of them and kiss them - the four boys, as well. Carol Burnett in the movie version of Annie could not touch Anne Lakey as Miss Hannigan. You had to love her mischievous face.

Everyone in the show was a star. Dan Maxwell as Oliver Warbucks and George Lynch as Roosevelt stood out. They were all so great in their roles, it would be easier to include the playbill. If it plays to capacity, I'll stand to see it again.

To Pasco County Sheriff's Office: Thanks for nothing

Editor: I want to thank the Pasco County Sheriff's Office for not responding to a disturbance call the morning of May 9 at 3 a.m. and again at 4 a.m. to University Drive in Country Club Estates, Hudson.

Maybe this is why people take matters into their own hands, because the people who are suppose to be there for us and protect us don't care!

They need not call and ask for a donation; as far as I'm concerned, they can fend for themselves.

Two neighborhoods want to have their mail delivered promptly

Editor: Enough. We who live in Embassy Hills and Regency Park would like to have our mail delivered at the regular time. We are tired of getting our mail at 7 p.m.

The postal service is causing a hardship for its carriers, as they have to walk the routes in the hot sun and during storms. I hope the postal inspectors investigate this matter.
