Recipe correction

This recipe was included last week in a roundup of easy dishes for weeknight meals. It would be easier if we hadn't left out the cheese and the directions had been clearer.

Parmesan Cottage-Baked Potatoes

3 medium potatoes (1 pound), thinly sliced

1 small onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings

3 tablespoons butter or margarine

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Arrange potato slices and onion rings in a thin layer in a greased 15- by 10- by 1-inch baking pan. Melt butter; drizzle over potatoes. Combine garlic powder, pepper and 1/4-cup grated Parmesan cheese; sprinkle over potatoes. Bake in a 450-degree oven about 30 minutes or until browned, carefully turning potatoes once. Serves four.
