Commission okays plans for community near parkway

The County Commission approved plans Tuesday night for a 347-home community at the northeast corner of State Road 54 and Henley Road, on 116 acres near the Suncoast Parkway. Walker Development owner Kurt Hull said he plans to build "upscale" homes in the price range of $170,000 to $300,000. But he said he might have to scale back his plans - either build fewer homes or smaller, less expensive ones - because commissioners required him to leave at least 15 feet between homes instead of the 10 feet he requested. Cindy Jolly, the county's development director, recommended the 15-foot separation to leave ample room for stormwater drainage.
