YOU HAVE TO LAUGH: Enter Laughing, a comedy based loosely on the autobiography of Carl Reiner, continues through Sunday at Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Shows are at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $14. The box office is open one hour before curtain. Call 683-5113.

ANIMAL TRACKS: There will be a sign walk at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Chinsegut Nature Center's Big Pine Track. Participants can look for the sometimes subtle signs of wildlife. To reach the center, take U.S. 41 north of Brooksville 7 miles, then turn left on County Road 476 and go 1 mile. The nature center is on the left. The event is free. Call 754-6722.

QUICK TRIPS

BIG BAND: The 42nd Street Big Band will perform "America Remembers" as a Memorial Day salute Sunday at Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave., New Port Richey. Featured performers are trumpeter Charly Raymond and singer Michele Pruyn. The conductor is Bob Boyd. Cash bar is at 1 p.m., dinner is at 1:30 p.m., followed by the show. DEEP ROOTS: "Deep Roots: Reflections of Ancient Florida," an art exhibit and lecture series, continues through June 30 at the Pasco Arts Center, 5744 Moog Road, Holiday. The third discussion, "Florida's First People," led by Elizabeth Neily and Herman Trappman, will be at 1 p.m. Monday. The exhibit features paintings by Ms. Neily, computer-created art by Trappman, ceramic reproductions of Southeastern mound builders by Marty Hawthorn, organic jewelry by Yona Dunning and Kay Welch, and palm weaving by Lou Galgano. Viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

HARD KNOCKS LIFE: The musical Annie continues weekends through June 1 at Richey Suncoast Theatre, 6237 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey. Shows are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sundays. LOOK AHEAD

AMERICAN MUSIC: The Silverthorn Book Club will present The Roots of American Music featuring Jon Kay at 7 p.m. June 5 at the Silverthorn Community Center at 4470 Golf Club Road. CURTAIN CALLS

The final acting workshop by Arthur R. Day for ages 7 and older is Saturday at Richey Suncoast Theatre. Courses are Character Creation at 9 a.m., Acting II at 10 a.m., Acting I at 11 a.m., Character Creation at noon, and Commercials at 1 p.m. Tuition is $20 a session. Interviews for director, music director, choreographer and pianist for the November production of Annie Get Your Gun are being conducted by the nonprofit Arts in Motion youth theater and arts education company of central and east Pasco County. Performers will be ages kindergarten through 12th grade. Auditions will be in August, with the director and music director setting a rehearsal schedule after that. The Hernando County Recreation Department and the Hernando County Fine Arts Council will offer basic acting classes for children ages 3-6 and 6-8. Classes are Thursdays through July. Younger children meet from 3-3:50 p.m., and the older group meets from 4-4:50 p.m. Classes are at 3400 Deltona Blvd. in Spring Hill. The instructor is Ciana Vanni and the fee is $35 per month. Auditions for the comedy Over the River and Through the Woods will be at 7 p.m. June 6 and at 1 p.m. June 7 at Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Parts are available for two males and two females to play grandparents, one male 25-35, and one female 20-30. The director is Carlos Warner and production dates are Thursdays-Sundays Sept. 11-28. Auditions for the musicals Oliver, A Chorus Line, Christmas Spectacular, Chicago and Showboat will be at 6:30 p.m. June 1 at Show Palace Dinner Theatre, 16128 U.S. 19, Hudson. Roles are for singer and dancers of all ages. The Show Palace is specifically seeking two boys ages 9-15 who sing and act to play the roles of Oliver and the Artful Dodger in Oliver.
