NEW YORK - Roger Clemens' bruised right hand is okay and he is on target to try for his 300th career win Monday against Boston.
"It's fine, I threw all my pitches," the Yankees right-hander said after a bullpen session Friday. "It went well."
The same couldn't be said for the rest of the Yankees.
All-Star centerfielder Bernie Williams was put on the 15-day disabled list because of a bad knee and shortstop Derek Jeter was a late scratch for Friday night's game because of mild stiffness in his left hamstring.
Jeter's problem didn't appear serious. Manager Joe Torre did not want to take chances with a field made slick by an all-day rain.
The Yankees recalled outfielder Juan Rivera from Triple-A Columbus and he started in leftfield against the Blue Jays, with Hideki Matsui moving to center.
In other news, the man convicted of punching David Wells in a diner was denied a new trial when Judge Robert Stolz ruled the pitcher's biography, Perfect, I'm Not, did not significantly change the case. Rocco Graziosa contended the book's account of the fight presented new evidence.
BONDS INJURES LEG: Barry Bonds left the Giants' game in the fifth after injuring his right leg.
Bonds appeared to be injured when he straightened his leg on a single to lead off the fifth against Colorado. He turned hard on the pitch and hobbled to first base as the line drive bounced off the wall in right.
Bonds limped into the dugout after being checked out by Giants trainer Stan Conte and was replaced by Pedro Feliz.
BLUE JAYS: Pitcher Pete Walker was activated from the 15-day DL and pitcher Brian Bowles was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.
CARDINALS: Reliever Gabe Molina was recalled from Triple-A Memphis; outfielder Kerry Robinson was optioned to Memphis.
ORIOLES: Outfielder Gary Matthews was claimed on waivers by the Padres from Baltimore. The Orioles also placed outfielder Larry Bigbie on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder and recalled outfielder Luis Matos from Triple-A Ottawa.
PADRES: Centerfielder Mark Kotsay went on the 15-day DL retroactive to Monday with a sprained lower back and catcher Gary Bennett was activated.
PIRATES: Utilityman Rob Mackowiak was arrested about 3 a.m. Friday and charged with driving under the influence. Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Tammy Ewin said he was arrested in the Strip District, an area with a number of nightclubs. According to the police report, an officer saw him cross the center line, make an illegal turn through a red light and drive the wrong way. Mackowiak's blood alcohol content was .13 percent, Ewin said. The state presumes someone is too impaired to drive at .10.
REDS: Ryan Dempster went on the 15-day DL, a day after the right-hander struck out 10 and threw 94 mph fastballs. The Reds cited an inflamed nerve in Dempster's neck. He'll continue to pitch for Triple-A Louisville on a rehabilitation assignment. Infielder Ranier Olmedo was called up from Double-A Chattanooga.
WHITE SOX: Outfielder Joe Borchard was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte, and centerfielder Willie Harris was placed on the 15-day DL. Harris suffered a mild shoulder separation May 16.
