Lutz guv'na hopefuls to trot out their junk

LUTZ - Two weeks ago, candidates for Lutz guv'na showed off their wits. On Saturday, they show off their junk.

The occasion is an annual flea market in front of the community's train depot, aimed at attracting attention, and money, to the community's annual guv'na fundraiser.

All three guv'na candidates planned this week to harvest items from their attics and garages for sale. "All good stuff," candidate Allan Himes pledged. Candidate Joni Cagle also plans to sell barbecue sandwiches, drinks and face-painting.

Rival Sondra Guffey has planned a "pet parade." She said it will consist at least of her two Jack Russell terriers, Hope and Jack, dressed as a princess and a devil.

Flea market space has been rented to sellers of crafts, plants and other items. Next door, the Friends of the Lutz Library will have a used book sale.

The sales will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The library and train depot are at the northwest corner of U.S. 41 and Lutz-Lake Fern Road.
