A teenage girl injured in a bus accident in New Port Richey Wednesday afternoon was treated and released from a St. Petersburg hospital, as was another driver injured during the wreck that involved five cars and two school buses, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

A second teenager also was flown for treatment, and her condition was not available Thursday, although witnesses said the girl appeared to have suffered a broken leg.

Additionally, the Florida Highway Patrol has cited one driver in the crash.

Tyler J. Hamby, 17, 4413 Plaza Drive in Holiday, was charged with careless driving, according to the FHP.

An FHP trooper said Hamby, who was traveling south on Seven Springs Boulevard, failed to stop and struck the rear of a 1996 Cadillac driven by Carol Rokitski, 54, of Oldsmar.

After Rokitski was struck, her car collided with a school bus, which was traveling north on Seven Springs Boulevard.

Eleven students, from J.W. Mitchell High and Seven Springs Middle schools, needed medical treatment, as did six students on a bus following behind. The driver of the second bus braked hard to avoid the crash, according to the FHP.
