The administrative law judge presiding over a hearing into the behavior of Hillsborough Public Defender Julianne Holt said he is perplexed by the proceedings' slow pace.

Holt has been accused by the Florida Commission on Ethics of ordering her employees to do campaign work and run personal errands on state time.

Today, participants will hear for the fourth day in a row from Holt's former secretary, Sharon Slater. Holt's lawyer, Greg Kehoe, began cross-examining Slater Thursday.

"Unless we put on some serious speed somewhere, we aren't going to make it," said Administrative Judge Steve Dean.
