Oldsmar and Palm Harbor National became the first teams to advance out of pool play and into the quarterfinals of the District 12 Major baseball Tournament of Champions.

Oldsmar claimed the top seed in pool A with three straight wins. On Saturday, Oldsmar kicked off the tournament with a 4-3 win over Largo National. In that game, Ryan Lange slammed a home run and struck out six batters in six innings.

Less than 24 hours later, the team was at it again.

Oldsmar got strong pitching from its starter, Nick Rossi, who pitched an 8-0 complete game against Clearwater. Drew Boyles, Joseph Lopez, Justin Disanto and Lange chipped in with multiple hits to support Rossi.

On Monday, Oldsmar clinched a quarterfinal berth with another strong pitching performance as Lopez took an 8-3 complete-game win over Tarpon Springs. Morgan Cowan collected three hits for Oldsmar.

Palm Harbor National clinched pool D with wins against Safety Harbor National, Dunedin National and Dunedin American.

MAJOR BASEBALL: Sean Curran struck out 13 batters and blasted a two-run home run in Southwest's 4-2 win over Cross Bayou in District 5 action Monday night.

On Sunday, Largo American's Brett Gourlay pitched a no-hitter in a 5-0 win over Hudson in District 12. Gourlay faced the minimum 18 batters.

Patrick Camplrini helped Safety Harbor American defeat East Lake 1-0.

On Saturday, Palm Harbor American's Michael Warren and Sean Shelton combined to shut out West Pasco 1-0.

Hits by Garrett Lept, Mark Hardle and Alex Oremland helped Safety Harbor American get past Holiday 4-1 in extra innings.

JUNIOR BASEBALL: Cory Paterson struck out 12 to collect the win in Holiday's 4-1 win over Countryside on Saturday. Paterson also added two hits and scored two runs. Jeff Raymond and Michael Messenger helped break the game open.

East Lake reeled off back-to-back wins Saturday and Sunday to stay in the hunt for the District 12 championship. East Lake defeated Largo 9-0 on Saturday. Brent Hill had four hits, including a double and triple. Blake Oliver and Mike Wilson combined for five East Lake hits.

On Sunday, Wilson picked off a runner with the bases loaded to preserve a 7-5 East Lake win over Countryside.
