With tech spending down and hot startups gone the way of capri pants, it might not seem the best time to pitch a compendium of IT marketing tips.
But that's just what Antoinette Rodriguez, founding member and former vice president of the Tampa Bay Technology Forum, is doing. With an e-mail list to die for, Rodriguez has started promoting her e-book, 101 IT Sales & Marketing Tips, which can be downloaded for a mere $27. First day sales, she said, topped 200 copies.
Rodriguez, who commutes from her new home in New York City to her post as chief executive of Marketing 4 E-Biz in Tampa, promises "guerilla" marketing tips for early to mid stage tech companies who want "actual, real, increased and substantial sales!" She brushes off the tough environment. "That's precisely why people need this book," she said.
Well aware of the dangers of people pirating her intellectual property, Rodriguez asks customers to refrain from copying her book for others. "Please do your Sister a favor and e-mail me if you are receiving this from anyone other than me or from my site," she writes in her e-marketing memo. "Folks, the reality of the situation today is if we don't govern ourselves, the government or the lawyers will. Capiche? Gracias!"
