Boy faces molestation charges as adult

A 16-year-old boy has been charged as an adult with molesting a 6-year-old girl on at least two occasions.

Stephen Samuel Hamilton was charged Monday with two counts of felony capital sexual battery and one count of felony lewd and lascivious molestation, according to a report with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

Hamilton had been charged as a juvenile with the offenses in March, when the crimes were reported, but officials have decided to charge him as an adult, sheriff's spokesman Jon Powers said.

He said Hamilton fondled the girl and performed oral sex on her.

The Sheriff's Office and state records list Hamilton's address as a post office box either in St. Leo or Dade City. The last address he gave authorities was in March, at 12902 Christmas Drive in St. Leo, Powers said. The sheriff's records state that he is a student at Wesley Chapel High School.

The attacks happened at least twice in 2002 in the "Dade City area" when the girl was 6, Powers said. He would not say how Hamilton knew the girl.

Hamilton was being held Tuesday in the Pasco County jail in New Port Richey in lieu of $20,000 bail.
