An evening with Judy and Liza

Impersonators team up to sing and dance to the mother and daughter's classic tunes.

Fans of Liza Minnelli and Judy Garland will be especially interested in the show opening June 27 at the Angel Cabaret Theatre.

Called Judy and Liza, together again, it stars impersonators Rebecca Young as the late Ms. Garland and Suzanne Goulet as Ms. Minnelli. The show continues weekends through Aug. 3.

The two performed the act at the Newport Beachside Resort Hotel's now-closed Seven Seas Showroom in North Miami Beach.

Their show is expected to include Ms. Young singing Ms. Garland's signature song, Over the Rainbow and the dramatic The Man That Got Away, with Ms. Goulet singing Cabaret and singing and dancing to Stepping Out.

"I perform the three-minute dance beside a projection of the real Liza on a screen," Ms. Goulet said. "It makes it look like a duet." Ms. Goulet said that one observer called her a "human Xerox machine."

Unlike the tribute shows where the performers lip-sync to recorded music, Ms. Goulet and Ms. Young sing in their own voices.

Ms. Goulet is a natural blond, but once donned a dark pixie wig to perform in another show. Several people remarked that the dark hair made her look like Liza Minnelli, which prompted her to launch a new act impersonating her. She says she has won several Liza look-alike contests.

"Liza is, to me, simply the Best," Ms. Goulet wrote in her biography. "My show is an homage to her and her enormous talent."
