LAND O'LAKES - A former Pasco sheriff's deputy was arrested Thursday after authorities said he performed oral sex on a female inmate at the Land O'Lakes jail.
Lonnie Charles Taylor Jr., 32, was arrested on a charge of sexual misconduct between detention facility employees and inmates, a third-degree felony. He was booked at the Land O'Lakes jail and later released on his own recognizance.
Taylor, a detention deputy since December 2000, resigned from the Sheriff's Office on Wednesday.
Sheriff's spokesman Jon Powers said detectives believe Taylor performed oral sex on an adult female inmate at the Land O'Lakes jail in February.
The incident took place in a laundry room while the woman was working on a cleanup crew, Powers said.
Sheriff's detectives got word of the allegations late Friday and began their investigation on Monday.
Taylor admitted to having sexual relations with the woman, saying they had become friends and the sex act was consensual, according to Powers.
Taylor has not faced other disciplinary action at the Sheriff's Office, and this appears to be an isolated incident, Powers said.
