Ben T. Davis Beach closed for swimming

By Times Staff Writer

TAMPA - The Hillsborough County health department has issued an advisory for Ben T. Davis Beach.

Because of high levels of fecal coliform and bacteria in the water, the health department is asking swimmers to keep out of the water at the beach, which is located on the east side of the Courtney Campbell Parkway.

The problem: runoff from the recent rain. The county's parks and recreation department has posted "No Swimming" signs at the beach. Another test will be done next week to determine if the water is safe for swimmers.
