ST. PETERSBURG - It isn't often - okay, never - that I receive men's briefs (size 36) in a promotion for an art event. But there's always a first time, and they arrived recently for another first-time event, Art for Bucks, billed as an evening "of visual art, live music, poetry, one-man theater and stand-up comedy" at American Stage Theater, 211 Third St. S, St. Petersburg. It features the Fallopian Tubes, a well-known local band of female musicians; standup comedian and actor ranney (one of the stars of last year's American Stage Shakespeare in the Park production The Bomb-itty of Error); and art by John Huls, working in mixed media, Jonathan Silbert, a ceramist, and Ken Silbert, which is where the briefs come in. Silbert will show a series of sculptures made from men's underwear that he calls wUnderpants; an example is shown above. Performances begin at 8 p.m. Saturday and tickets are $10. (727) 823-1600.
