County plans meetings to discuss replacing bridges

Hillsborough County has scheduled two public meetings to discuss the replacement of bridges in south and southeast Hillsborough County. County staff and engineers will be available to answer questions from residents about the projects, intended to replace the existing structures with bridges that meet current standards for safety and functionality. Meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m.
- A meeting to discuss bridges over Turkey Creek is set for Monday at the Turkey Creek Recreation Center, 5936 Connel Road.
The Durant Road Bridge will consist of two 12-foot lanes with 8-foot shoulders and 5-foot sidewalks on both sides of the bridge. The Caruthers Road Bridge will consist of two 11-foot lanes with 8-foot shoulders and 5-foot sidewalks.
The county plans to spend $1.5-million on the project.
- A meeting to discuss the Symmes Road and East Bay Road bridges over Bullfrog Creek is scheduled for Tuesday at The Gardenville Recreation Center, 6215 Symmes Road.
The bridges will consist of two 12-foot lanes with 8-foot shoulders and 5-foot sidewalks on both sides of the bridge. The county has budgeted $2.4-million for the project.
