WIMAUMA - Eric Cantrell, a former Wimauma Elementary administrator who has spent the past two years as assistant principal at Gibsonton Elementary, will take over the Wimauma principal's post.

Former Wimauma principal Carol DeAgazio retired in June after more than 20 years at the rural school that serves mostly migrant workers' children.

Cantrell has worked in the Hillsborough County School District for seven years, first as a teacher in the magnet program at Sligh Middle and then at Wimauma Elementary, where he was assistant principal for three years.

"Wimauma was the foundation for learning what I needed to be an effective administrator," Cantrell said. "At Gibsonton, I could spread my wings to apply that in a different setting. So I go back to Wimauma with much more under my belt."
