District 12 All-Stars begin play despite rain

The District 12 All-Stars began play Saturday even though several games were postponed by rain.

In Major baseball, Tony Pikos and Jennifer Hunter combined to hold Safety Harbor to four hits in Tarpon Springs' 6-2 win. Pikos, Daniel Reyes and Jeff Jaeger each had two hits. Holiday shut down Countryside 1-0 behind Joe Caldareelli's 10 strikeouts.

In Junior baseball, Palm Harbor National scored five in the third to defeat Dunedin American 12-5. Tim Kiley, Brian Torok and Wes Hazzard had RBIs.

Joey Jones had a RBI double and scored the winning run in Largo National's 5-4 win over Safety Harbor. Cory List drove in two runs with a triple and Tony Floyd pitched a complete game.

Oldsmar's Justin Bosker hit an inside-the-park home run and Christopher Newell hit a triple in an 11-2 win over Dunedin National.

In the day's only Senior baseball matchup, West Pasco shut out East Lake 5-0. Matt Lemming pitched four innings for the win.

MINOR BASEBALL: Cross Bayou will represent District 5 at the Section 7 Tournament at Oldsmar on July 19 after defeating Pinellas Park National 13-1 in the East vs. West title game Friday.

In other games, Alex Knapp scored two runs and drove in a pair as Oldsmar defeated Dunedin American 13-2 on Friday.

On Thursday, Tenner Newton struck out nine and George Duncan hit a triple in West Pasco's 10-7 win over Tarpon Springs, and Justin Crist pitched six innings as Countryside defeated Holiday 6-4.

Aaron Barley's hit in the top of the sixth was the difference in Dunedin National's 7-3 win over Safety Harbor, and Sawyer Wilson had two doubles as Clearwater defeated Palm Harbor American 20-7. East Lake scored three in the first off Palm Harbor National in a 4-1 win. MINOR SOFTBALL: Seminole defeated Southwest/Gulf Beaches on Friday to win the District 5 championship and advance to the Section 7 Tournament at Oldsmar on July 19.
