OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. - An impromptu shrine at the entrance of Katharine Hepburn's home Monday morning included bouquets of pink roses, peach peonies and red, white and blue arrangements of carnations. Hepburn died Sunday at 96 at her home.

Among her admirers was Elizabeth Taylor.

"I think every actress in the world looked up to her with a kind of reverence and a sense of, "Oh boy, if only I could be like her,"' Taylor said in a statement. "We never looked at her with envy or jealousy because she worked with such grace and wit and charm. You only wish that one day you could be like her. I am so glad that she and Spence (Spencer Tracy) are finally together again."

The lights will dim on Broadway in New York at 8 p.m. today in honor of Hepburn, said Patricia Armetta-Haubner, a spokeswoman for the League of American Theaters and Producers.

Marine ends "Idol' service

HOLLYWOOD - U.S. Marine Joshua Gracin will not be reporting for duty for the American Idol national summer tour after all.

Gracin, one of the top 10 finalists on the Fox talent competition series, was pulled from the tour, which comes to the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa on Aug. 13, by the Marines because he would not be able to complete his required military training by then, said Maj. Curtis L. Hill.

The 39-city tour will feature the other nine finalists from the series and will kick off July 8 in St. Paul, Minn.

CBS adds twist to "Big Brother'

NEW YORK - It's hard enough living in a camera-filled house for three months with strangers. Now, imagine if your ex-flame is one of them.

That's the twist CBS-TV is using for the fourth season of its reality series Big Brother, which premieres July 8.

The series follows a group of people living together in a California house. Houseguests vote each other out and the last remaining houseguest will receive $500,000.
