MICK WILL BE JEALOUS: Johnny Depp, an actor known for taking his work home with him (and letting it stick around for a while after it's over), showed up Saturday at the Disneyland premiere of his new movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, still in character. He says he modeled his gentleman pirate Jack Sparrow on Rolling Stone Keith Richards. "I was reading about the 18th century pirates and thought they were kind of like rock stars," Depp tells the Los Angeles Times. "So, when I thought, "Who is the greatest rock 'n' roll star of all time?,' it was Keith." Depp has known Richards since the mid 1980s. In the movie, out next week, he wears a Richardslike bandana on his head and has a thin stripe of black makeup under each eye. One habit he did not adopt: He doesn't spend the entire movie with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. A LEER IS STILL A LEER: The new Hulk's facial expressions aren't all based on the contortions of his human form, Eric Bana. Closeups of Hulk's face also incorporate eye movements patterned after Humphrey Bogart and Robert De Niro, the animators tell the Entertainment News Wire. In a scene in which Hulk longingly watches love interest Betty walk down stairs, a gleam in his eye was borrowed from Bogart in Casablanca, says visual-effects art director Wilson Tang. FAMILY MATTERS: In the Charlie's Angels sequel, Bosley is played by Bernie Mac, which may strike some as a bit odd given that the character in the first film was played by Bill Murray. "The Bosleys are an African-American family," Angels director McG tells the San Francisco Chronicle. "Bill Murray was the Caucasian anomaly, kind of like Steve Martin in The Jerk." Murray was not asked to be in the sequel. BLACKBALLED BY THE STAR WHO HAPPENS TO BE THE EX-WIFE? Tom Green's character, Chad, isn't in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, either. "You want to take a guess why?" the second ex-Mr. Drew Barrymore says in a TVGuide.com interview. How about creative differences over the character's direction? "Sure, let's throw that down," Green says. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
