Glidewell's roast to benefit CARES

By Times Staff Writer
Published July 6, 2003

Jan Glidewell's retirement calls for a celebration.

The venerable columnist will wrap up more than 30 years at the St. Petersburg Times in August, and CARES plans to use the occasion to throw a big party that will raise money for the agency's recent renovations at the new senior center in Beacon Woods subdivision.

Glidewell will be "roasted" by speakers who have at one time or another been poked at in his column.

CARES organizers still are collecting ammunition for the event, scheduled for Aug. 19 at the Knights of Columbus hall in Port Richey.

For information, contact Pat Babinetz, director of the Hudson center, at (727) 863-6868.
