Popular Robitaille discusses return to Kings

LOS ANGELES - Luc Robitaille, one of the most popular players in Kings history, is in talks with the team about returning, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"We had a real good talk," said Robitaille, 37, who is an unrestricted free agent after being released last month by the Red Wings. He scored 11 goals last season.

"I came out of there real positive."

Robitaille has 631 career goals, the most among left wings.

SENATORS: Free-agent winger Denis Hamel signed a multiyear contract after spending part of last season with Buffalo. He had two goals and 17 penalty minutes in 25 games with the Sabres. Hamel played 48 games with Buffalo's AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, and finished with 27 goals and 20 assists.

HURRICANES: Defenseman Danny Markov, acquired on draft day, could end up playing in Russia next season, the Raleigh News and Observer reported. Phoenix traded Markov to Carolina for David Tanabe and Igor Knyazev after what were said to be contentious attempts to re-sign the restricted free agent.
