Beach Drive manhole work causes detour

By Times Staff Writer
Published July 13, 2003

ST. PETERSBURG - Beach Drive will be closed to traffic between Fifth and Seventh avenues NE for about a month because a manhole is being replaced.

The excavation required to fix the manhole will be deep enough to warrant closing the two blocks, said Mike Connors, city engineer.

Fifth Avenue NE remains open. Motorists who usually use Beach to and from downtown can use Third or Fourth streets N, or Fifth Avenue NE around the Renaissance Vinoy Resort, connecting with North Shore Drive, or Beach Drive south of Fifth.
