PALM HARBOR - A fire that claimed the life of a Palm Harbor man Saturday appears to have been accidental, Pinellas County sheriff's deputies said.

Authorities on Sunday identified Chad Michael Clark, 26, and said he died trying to escape his home at the Frontier Village Mobile Home Park, at 30700 U.S. 19 N.

Capt. Cal Dennie said the sheriff's office is continuing the investigation, but preliminary work shows no sign of foul play.

"The case is open and they are still working on it," Dennie said. "But I talked with the homicide sergeant and he said it looks accidental."

Palm Harbor fire officials found Clark on the floor near the exit.

No one else was burned inside the home.
