KWYNN KIRKHUFFTeen Titans premieres Saturday at 9 p.m. on Cartoon Network.
If I had to describe Cartoon Network's new animated series Teen Titans in one word it would be "HIGH-YA!" (Or is that two words?)
Anyway, this action-packed show looks like a total blast with some pretty funky, butt-kicking characters. The show, which is based on the DC Comics characters, features Robin (yes, Batman's sidekick) and four of his teen friends who all have their own super powers.
Robin leads the pack and isn't afraid of anything. Cyborg is a massive half-robot, whose strength provides the muscle for the group. Starfire, who isn't afraid to fight a guy, can fly and shoots green star bolts. Raven, who is basically the night creature (a la Batman), is creepy. She also can control inanimate objects.
The last character, and my favorite, is Beast Boy who can morph into any animal.
While fighting crime is at the top of their list, they also find time to be teenagers.
Their home is the Brady Bunch living room meets the starship Enterprise, say series story editor David Slack and producer Glen Murakami. They sometimes take their fighting back to their apartment and get on each others' nerves. But in the end, they all come together to fight evil.
This show, which will air on the Kids WB in 2004, is probably meant to be shown to older kids because of all the fighting. But I can see younger kids getting into it.
