Police seek man who robbed restaurantBy Times Staff Writer© St. Petersburg Times published July 22, 2003 TAMPA - Police are searching for a man who robbed a popular restaurant on Dale Mabry Highway on Monday morning. At about 8:15, the robber walked through the kitchen door at Pete & Shorty's Restaurant and confronted an employee at gunpoint. The robber tied the employee's hands, then marched him to the front of the restaurant. Police said the robber found the manager and forced him to open the safe. The robber hit the employee with the gun, tied the manager up and took off with cash. The suspect is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing all black clothing and was armed with a silver handgun, police said. The restaurant is located at 716 N Dale Mabry Highway.
