TAMPA - A task force was formed Thursday to investigate possible environmental violations at the Coronet phosphate plant in Plant City.

The task force comprises environmental protection agencies on county, state and federal levels, the U.S. Attorney's Office, the Hillsborough State Attorney's Office, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the Plant City Police Department.

The investigation was launched at the urging of Richard Garrity, executive director of the county's Environmental Protection Commission. Former employees have alleged Coronet committed environmental violations.

Those with information about the case can call special agent Dan Green of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at 274-6202.
