TORONTO - Cory Lidle won for the first time in more than a month and Carlos Delgado drove in four runs, including his AL-leading 29th homer, as the Blue Jays beat the Orioles 5-3 on Friday night.
Delgado's three-run shot off Jason Johnson in the fifth was his first homer in 72 at-bats since July 2 - his longest drought this season. The All-Star first baseman leads the majors with 103 RBIs and is the first Toronto player to have 100 RBIs in six straight seasons.
"For a while I couldn't hit a ball hard to save my life," Delgado said. "Hopefully, that's what I needed."
Lidle (11-8) went 0-4 with a 10.86 ERA in his past five starts. He allowed three runs on nine hits, struck out four and walked three for his first win since June 20. The 31-year-old right-hander, eligible for free agency after the season, is the subject of trade rumors.
Trever Miller struck out all four batters for his second save.
Baltimore centerfielder Luis Matos' throwing error allowed the go-ahead run to score in the seventh. Toronto's Reed Johnson pinch ran for Frank Catalanotto, stole second and advanced to third on Jason Johnson's wild pitch. One batter later, Vernon Wells hit a shallow fly ball to Matos, whose poor throw to the plate eluded catcher Brook Fordyce, allowing Johnson to score. Delgado followed with a run-scoring single, giving Toronto a 5-3 lead.
Jay Gibbons hit a run-scoring double in the fourth, Brian Roberts hit a run-scoring grounder in the fifth and Fordyce had a run-scoring double in the seventh to tie it at 3 for the Orioles.
ATHLETICS 3, ANGELS 2: Miguel Tejada hit a tying double and Ramon Hernandez had a go-ahead single in the eighth for visiting Oakland.
Ted Lilly allowed a run and five hits in seven innings, striking out five and walking two for his first victory in five starts since beating San Francisco on June 22.
Billy McMillon homered in the ninth to give Oakland a 3-1 lead.
Angels starter John Lackey scattered five hits, struck out five and walked three over 62/3. It was his third scoreless outing in his past four starts.
Brendan Donnelly relieved in the seventh after Lackey gave up a one-out single to Terrence Long and a two-out walk to McMillon. The right-hander escaped the jam by getting Scott Hatteberg on a grounder to second.
But four of the first five batters in the Oakland eighth got hits against Donnelly. Eubiel Durazo and Tejada opened the inning with doubles, and Hernandez drove in Tejada with a single to center.
McMillon, in his second game in the leadoff spot, led off the ninth against Francisco Rodriguez with his second homer of the season. The run became vital when pinch-hitter Adam Kennedy homered off Keith Foulke with two outs in the ninth.
MARINERS 11, RANGERS 5: Mike Cameron, Ichiro Suzuki and Bret Boone homered in a six-run fourth for host Seattle. Boone drove in four with a pair of two-run homers for the West-leading Mariners, who hit four homers in a game for the second time this season. Suzuki, who has 10 homers this season, and Cameron each drove in three runs. Texas' Rafael Palmeiro hit his 512th career home run to move past Mel Ott into a tie for 14th place on the all-time list with Ernie Banks and Eddie Mathews. Next up is Ted Williams and Willie McCovey at 521.
ROYALS 8, TIGERS 3: Aaron Guiel hit a three-run homer and Runelvys Hernandez won for the first time in more than three months for visiting Kansas City. Angel Berroa added three hits for Kansas City, which won for the second time in five games. Hernandez, winless since April 22, entered with an 0-3 record in six previous starts. Detroit has lost seven of eight and fell to 1-9 against the Royals this season.
TWINS 6, INDIANS 5: Doug Mientkiewicz hit a tiebreaking double in the ninth to lift visiting Minnesota. Danys Baez gave up a single to Cristian Guzman leading off the inning. Guzman stole second and scored on a two-out hit by Mientkiewicz, who finished with two doubles and two RBIs. LaTroy Hawkins got two outs in the eighth for the win. Eddie Guardado pitched a perfect ninth, striking out two for his 24th save.
