PRAGUE, Czech Republic - Police completed their investigation of Dominik Hasek and say charges should be brought against the star goaltender for hurting a player during an inline hockey game.

Hasek, who is coming out of retirement to play for the Red Wings this season, has denied any wrongdoing.

Police investigated for two months and Wednesday sent their report to the state prosecutor, who will decide whether Hasek will be formally charged with causing bodily harm, an offense punishable by up to eight years in prison, police spokeswoman Ilona Kratochvilova said Friday.

Police began investigating Hasek after a May 18 game in Pardubice. Hasek, playing for Bonfire Strida, collided with Martin Sila of SK Pardubice.

According to reports, Hasek knocked Sila down with a cross-check to the back, sat on him and hit him in the neck several times with his stick.

Bruin hurt in crash

Defenseman Jonathan Girard was in Hopital Sacre Coeur in Montreal after an accident Thursday near his hometown of Rawdon, Quebec, Boston general manager Mike O'Connell said.

"He suffered a broken pelvis in four places and some blood loss ... and I understand that he is doing better this morning," O'Connell said. "My understanding is that Jonathan will need surgery, but there has been no schedule for that at this time."

Girard's agent, Bob Sauve, said Girard lost control of his car near a curve and the car flipped. The Le Journal de Montreal reported Girard was trapped in the car for about 45 minutes before being freed by an emergency crew.

Girard had six goals and 16 assists in 73 games with the Bruins last season and signed a one-year extension this year.
