Clearwater coach Tom Bostic is among 50 high school coaches from around the country chosen to participate in the third annual NFL Youth Football Summit.
It will be held during Hall of Fame weekend Thursday through Sunday in Canton, Ohio.
Bostic will take part in coaching seminars with NFL personnel. Bill Walsh, who was general manager of the 49ers when they won three Super Bowls, is the scheduled guest speaker. The summit will cover topics such as injury prevention, handling coach-player issues and recognizing talent.
Bostic said the summit was recommended by his friend, Largo coach Rick Rodriguez, who attended last year.
"He said he really enjoyed it; it was informative and worthwhile," said Bostic, who has been the Tornadoes head coach since 1983.
Curious, Bostic applied by writing an essay about his coaching career, commitment to youth and coaching philosophies. One coach from each state was selected. Bostic beat out more than 75 applicants from Florida.
"If you get it, I guess it's an honor," said Bostic who added he is looking forward to visiting the Hall of Fame for the first time.
