Carrollwood man, 40, charged in child pornography inquiry

TAMPA - Hillsborough sheriff's deputies on Monday arrested a 40-year-old man on charges of child pornography.
Deputies said they received complaints against Robert McGowan, of 13136 Carrollwood Creek Circle, "regarding the exploitation of a minor child who resides in Canada," according to reports.
Investigators said they worked with authorities in Canada, using forensic evidence and interviewing the alleged victim. They got a search warrant and seized computer equipment at McGowan's Carrollwood home.
Based on evidence they found there, deputies said, they arrested McGowan on child porn charges.
McGowan turned himself in at the Orient Road Jail on Monday. He was released early Tuesday after posting $7,000 bail.
He has a prior arrest in Florida on a marijuana possession charge in 1998, according to state records.
