Second meeting set to help Lacoochee

By SAUNDRA AMRHEIN
Published July 30, 2003

Organizers of a redevelopment effort for Lacoochee have scheduled a second meeting for 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 8. The meeting will be at the Tampa Bay Golf & Country Clubhouse on State Road 52, west of Interstate 75 near San Antonio.

The purpose is to brainstorm and to organize three committees - one each on crime, children and commerce.

Organizer Isa Blanford said she wants participants to focus on goals and solutions, not complaints. The first meeting at the Pasco-Hernando Community College campus near Dade City on July 21 drew more than 70 people.

Blanford, a community planner in Lacoochee for the Pasco County Housing Authority, organized the meetings in the wake of the shooting death of Sheriff's Lt. Charles "Bo" Harrison on June 1 in Lacoochee.

The purpose of the meetings is to bring county officials, business representatives and residents together to help revitalize Lacoochee. To ask for an invitation to the meeting, call (352) 583-0155.
