First Friday: The Trailside Artists Colony's monthly show from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today features original works by all 16 Trailside members as well as paintings by wildlife artist Bill Scott. The colony is at 464 Douglas Ave., Dunedin (southwest corner of Douglas and Lyndhurst). Live music and refreshments. Parking and admission are free. For information, call (727) 733-5607.

Family cookout and sleepover: Enjoy a grilled meal with all the fixings, a night hike, toasted marshmallows, live music and a game of "glowing rubber chicken volleyball" at Moccasin Lake Nature Park's family cookout and sleepover from 6 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday. Admission is $25 for people 13 and up, $15 for kids 4-12 and $5 for children 3 and under. Kids under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Preregistration is required. THEATER: The Early Bird Dinner Theatre at Bill Irle's Banquet Hall is presenting the comedy Angel on My Shoulder through Sept. 7. Admission is $14.95 for the buffet and show. Seating at 4 p.m., curtain at 6 p.m. today; seating at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., curtain at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday; and seating at 4 p.m. curtain at 6 p.m. Sunday. DANCE: The first Banana Ball and auction to benefit the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Allegro, 1755 East Lake Road, East Lake. The evening will include food, entertainment and the chance to bid on items such as golf and travel packages, artwork and sports memorabilia. Proceeds benefit the sanctuary, the nonprofit organization that runs the animal facility once known as Noell's Ark Chimp Farm. Tickets are $35. Call (727) 943-8878.

PHOTO EXHIBIT: Don't miss "Florida's Guiding Lights," a photographic show by Times staff photographer Scott Keeler now being exhibited at the Largo Cultural Center. Photojournalist Keeler fell in love with the Anclote Key Lighthouse in 1993 and was instrumental in the formation of a committee to preserve it. Keeler's love of lighthouses included photographing 30 of Florida's beacons which you will see on display. The hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. The show continues until Sept. 20. The Tarpon Springs Cultural Center is at 101 S Pinellas Ave. Admission is free.

ART LECTURE: Lois Berghoff and Carl Cowden of Berghoff-Cowden Editions will lecture on the art of screen-printing at 2 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, 600 Klosterman Road, Tarpon Springs. The cost for each lecture is $3 for nonmembers, free for members and students.

ART RECEPTION: Digital photographic images by Pantelis Klonaris and oils by Noel Aquino will be for sale at an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Snooty Judy's Fine Art Gallery, 514 Skinner Blvd., Dunedin. COMEDY: See unrehearsed skits by the troupe known as Wildrice at 8 p.m. today at the Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, 101 South Pinellas Ave.

FUNDRAISER: The GFWC Palm Harbor Junior Women's Club will collect clothing and shoes for low-income students in Pinellas County from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Stein Mart, 33591 U.S. 19 N, Palm Harbor.
