LARGO - Pinellas County utility officials announced Thursday afternoon that the water is safe in McKay Creek and the Intracoastal Waterway near Indian Rocks Road following a sewage spill.

Residents may resume normal water activities for the first time since Saturday, when the county Utilities Department discovered a sewage line break in McKay Creek, which feeds the Intracoastal. Meanwhile, in Clearwater, water results for Courtney Campbell Parkway beach are expected today.

The Pinellas County Health Department advised people to not swim there last week after high bacteria counts were found in the water.
