WEST PALM BEACH - An advertising executive was sent to prison for 15 years Thursday for speeding his Mercedes through a red light and killing six retirees.

Robert Carratelli, 46, had remained out of jail while appealing the jury's May 2000 guilty verdict.

Trial witnesses said he was driving up to 80 mph, weaving in traffic and talking on his cell phone when he hit the sport-utility vehicle carrying three couples. Carratelli's defense blamed a diabetic fainting spell for his driving.
