LYTHAM ST. ANNES, England - Diana Luna of Italy shot a tournament-record 23-over-par 95 in the second round of the Women's British Open on Friday after a series of problems with bunkers.
It's the worst score in the event since officials began keeping records 17 years ago. The worst was 92.
Luna shot a back-nine 55, including 12 at the 14th hole and 10 at the 18th. Her second shot at the 418-yard 14th landed in a bunker and she needed four shots to get out, one that rebounded off her body for a two-stroke penalty. She chipped onto the green, then three-putted.
At 18, she found another fairway bunker off the tee. Again, her bunker shot bounced off the face of the trap and hit her for a two-stroke penalty. Her fifth shot cleared the bunker - only to land in another.
