ARCHITECTURE

William D. Kent has been appointed president of George F. Young Inc., St. Petersburg, and Mary Mahaffey Thompson has been promoted to vice president of marketing. In addition to his new appointment, Kent will continue to serve as chief financial officer; Mahaffey Thompson was director of marketing.

CREDIT UNIONS

Robert L. Fisher has been re-elected to the board of directors for Credit Union 24, a national ATM and point-of-sale network. Fisher is president and chief executive of MacDill Federal Credit Union, Tampa.

DISTRIBUTORS

Jim Sarwark has been named vice president of purchasing for McNichols Co., Tampa. Sarwark was director of purchasing at Central Steel and Wire in Chicago.

HEALTH CARE

Dr. Larry Luter has been named chief medical officer and executive director for Managed Care 2000+, Tampa. Luter was medical director of Cigna HealthCare of Florida, Tampa. INSURANCE

Ed Thompson received the Safety Professional of the Year Award from the American Society of Safety Engineers, West Florida chapter. Nominees are recognized for their knowledge and expertise in the field, ASSE activities, professional contributions, awards and innovations, leadership and management. Thompson is loss control manager for Acordia Insurance, Clearwater.

LEGAL

David S. Hendrix has been named a partner at the law firm of GrayHarris, Tampa. Hendrix will continue to practice in the areas of banking, commercial litigation, international law, lender law and software licensing. Hendrix was a partner at the law firm of Cohn, Cohn & Hendrix, Tampa.

OFFICE SERVICES

Kris Simonsen has been named finance manager for Modern Business Associates, St. Petersburg. Simonsen was an independent consultant.

ORGANIZATIONS

Dr. Gus Stavros has been elected to the national board of directors for Junior Achievement Inc. Stavros is chairman of the board and chief executive of Pelam Investments Inc., St. Petersburg.

PUBLICATIONS

Bob Holland has been promoted to advertising director of Tampa Bay Illustrated. Holland was an account manager.

PUBLIC RELATIONS/MARKETING

Glasure Group, St. Petersburg, announced these appointments: Randell Metting, vice president of sports and entertainment marketing; Bill Chastain and Bill Bunker, senior counselors. Metting was director of marketing/southern region for the Music Network, Atlanta; Chastain is founder of Chastain Communications, Tampa; and Bunker is a freelance writer, editor and public relations consultant in the Tampa Bay area.

TECHNOLOGY

Charles Hixson has been named vice president of worldwide sales for OpenNetwork Technologies, Clearwater. Hixson was vice president of field sales and marketing for the Americas for Borland, Scotts Valley, Calif.

Grace Kennedy has been named implementation engineer for iDatix, Clearwater. Kennedy was a quality assurance engineer for Payformance in Jacksonville.

UNIVERSITIES

Rebecca C. Morgan received the Faculty Professionalism Award by the Florida Supreme Court's commission on professionalism. Morgan is a college of law professor and holds the Boston Asset Management faculty chair at Stetson University College of Law, Gulfport. Morgan also directs Stetson's Center for Excellence in Elder Law.
