Calling all collectors

By SHEILA REED
Published August 11, 2003

Out there somewhere are garages, drawers, filing cabinets and footlockers filled with good old stuff. It's the kind of stuff that you've been collecting for years, maybe decades.

Seniority, the St. Petersburg Times' monthly section for folks 50 and older, is searching for Tampa Bay area seniors who collect unusual items. For example, if beanies (the old-fashioned hats) make you swoon, or if you find earmuffs exciting or China dolls divine, you might be our kind of collector. You must have been collecting for at least 20 years and you must be the original collector.

Anyone with a stash of lace doilies, cow creamers or stickpins also is encouraged to submit an entry, but the more unusual the collection, the better.

Tell us about yourself using the form below and a reporter may contact you.

A brief description of what you collect and why:

Name:

Address:

Daytime phone number, with area code; and e-mail, if available:

Age:

Date you started the collection and the number of items:

Photos: If you submit photos with your entry, please note that they cannot be returned unless a self-addressed stamped envelope is provided.

Mail your entry to: Collectors Series, Seniority, St. Petersburg Times, PO. Box 1121, St. Petersburg, FL 33731. Deadline: Sept. 5.

E-mail: You may e-mail your entries to features@sptimes.com We cannot accept attachments.
