Mayor to break ground for Channel District lofts

CHANNEL DISTRICT - Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio will break ground for the Victory Lofts, a $28-million development near downtown, at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Victory Lofts will include 89 units in the Channel District, at the corner of 12th and Whiting streets. The lofts will range from 992 to 3,405 square feet and sell for $180,000 to $850,000. The project's Web site says 29 units remain for sale.

Construction will begin Aug. 25, with opening dates scheduled for next summer.

Routes from Port Tampa will be focus of meeting

INTERBAY - URS, a consulting firm hired by the city of Tampa to explore alternate routes for trucks traveling from Port Tampa, wants to hear from you.

The firm has scheduled a public meeting for 7 p.m. Aug. 26 at the old Port Tampa recreation center, 4719 Prescott St.
