Detectives look for car vandals

By Times Staff Writer

REDINGTON BEACH - Six cars were vandalized and one stolen Monday night along Redington Drive.

The Sheriff's Office is investigating the crimes and provided few details Tuesday, but sheriff's Detective Tim Goodman did have one message for Redington Beach residents.

"Lock your car," Goodman said. "Lock your car."

Some of the burglarized cars were "smash-and-grabs," where thieves broke through windows to steal items. But many of the cars were unlocked, allowing the culprits easy access.

Goodman would not offer details about what items were stolen, but did say the Sheriff's Office might identify suspects soon, based on reports from people who saw certain individuals in the area Monday night.
